Dr. Helpard is passionate about orthodontics and loves creating beautiful smiles. Patients enjoy his warm and easy going manner and find their visits to Shoreline Orthodontics very relaxing and satisfying. Upon graduating from the University of Western Ontario and McGill University, Dr. Helpard served in the Canadian Military as a general dentist. He then completed his orthodontic residency at the University of Iowa. A strong believer in lifelong learning Dr. Helpard is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia and an Examiner for the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. Dr. Helpard teaches and helps to ensure that future orthodontists are ready to provide excellent care for their patients. He is a member of several professional organizations and has held leadership positions in many. He most enjoys his role as a consulting orthodontist on the Cleft Palate team at BC Children�s hospital. Dr. Helpard has been recognized for his contributions to his profession and his community. He received the Professional Merit Award from the Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce in 2003. In 2011, he was one of only 36 people from across the province chosen to receive the prestigious BC Community Achievement Award. His most recent accomplishment was being nominated to become a member of the International College of Dentists in 2012. Dr. Helpard strives to inspire and nurture confidence in all of his patients.
